Ms. Allen has more than 20 years experience in the energy sector, and has led engagements for major energy companies in the area of business strategy, organizational restructuring, operational improvement, and management of information systems. Jane is also Deloitte’s Chief Diversity Officer, responsible for strategies to ensure a diverse and inclusive work environment across Canada. Deloitte is proud to be the first company in Canada to create the Chief Diversity Officer position. Colin Andersen Ontario Power Authority, CEO Colin Andersen was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in September 2008. Prior to joining the OPA, Mr. Andersen held a variety of senior financial and policy positions in the Ontario Public Service, playing a lead role in asset management, infrastructure investments and intergovernmental negotiations. Most recently, he was Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Finance; Secretary of Treasury Board; Deputy Minister, Ontario Ministry of Revenue; Chair of the Ontario Financing Authority and Chair of the Ontario Electricity Financial Corporation. Mr. Andersen has a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. The OPA is responsible for ensuring a reliable, long-term supply of electricity for Ontario, focusing on promoting conservation, planning for the long term, and procuring generation resources. |

Louis Belanger, CFA, FRM Stonebridge Louis Bélanger, CFA, FRM joined Stonebridge in 2007 to develop new opportunities in project finance, including the structuring, syndication and closing of new deals. Louis brought to Stonebridge over 5 years of experience in the Canadian private placements sector. Prior to joining the company, Louis was Assistant Vice President in Manulife’s Canadian Private Placements department, contributing to an annual program of approximately $1.0 billion. In addition, Louis has over 5 years of experience as a Senior Investment Analyst at The Canada Life Assurance Company where he traded Canadian fixed income and fixed income derivatives in addition to gaining exposure to private placements. Louis completed his Financial Risk Manager designation in 1998, and acquired his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2000. Linda Bertoldi Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Linda Bertoldi is a partner in the Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and is Chair of the National Electricity Markets Group and Co-chair of the Energy Markets and Infrastructure Group in Toronto. Linda was called to the Ontario Bar in 1976 and has a B.A. and LL.B. from the University of Toronto. She was recognized by Lexpert Magazine and the National Post as one of the top 25 women lawyers in Canada in September, 2003. Linda was named one of the top 500 lawyers in Canada by Lexpert Magazine for 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 because of her expertise in the energy field. Linda Bertoldi has been a corporate lawyer throughout her career and has been involved in major corporate and securities transactions, financings and mergers and acquisitions. Michael Binder President and CEO, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission One member of the Commission Tribunal is designated as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's (CNSC's) President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). This position is currently held by Mr. Michael Binder.
Throughout an extensive career in the federal public service, Michael Binder has held senior positions in Industry Canada, the Department of Communications, the Office of the Comptroller General of Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the Ministry of State for Urban Affairs and the Defence Research Board.
During his previous tenure as Assistant Deputy Minister of Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications, in Industry Canada, Michael Binder oversaw Canada’s transition to a network economy, and was responsible for the regulation of the telecommunication industries, the promotion of electronic commerce, and the development and use of world class information and communications technologies for the economic, social and cultural benefit of all Canadians. He was also responsible for the Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC) as well as for the delivery of programs such as SchoolNet, Computers for Schools, Community Access Program, CANARIE and the CA*Net4, and dealing with policy and regulatory issues associated with Electronic Commerce, SPAM, Privacy and Cyber Security.

Eric Boysen Ministry of Natural Resources, Director of Renewable Energy Program Eric Boysen is the Director of the Ministry of Natural Resources Renewable Energy Program. The Program is responsible for overseeing the Ministry’s responsibilities in implementing the new Green Energy and Economy Act. The Ministry also makes Crown land sites available for a variety of renewable energy projects (hydro, wind, solar), and for transmission and distribution corridors. Eric has worked for MNR for over 27 years, and has been involved in forestry initiatives, private land stewardship programs, and Crown lands and waters programs. Derek H. Burney, O.C. Senior Strategic Advisor, Ogilvy Renault LLP Derek H. Burney, O.C. is Senior Strategic Advisor to Ogilvy Renault LLP. He is Chairman on the Board of Canwest Global Communication Corp. and a Visiting Professor and Senior Distinguished Fellow at Carleton University. From October 2007 to February 2008, Mr. Burney served on the Independent Panel on Canada’s Future Role in Afghanistan. In September 2008, he was appointed as the Chair of the Selection Committee for the “Canada Excellence Research Chairs” programme of the Government of Canada. Mr. Burney headed the Transition team for Prime Minister Harper from January to March, 2006. He was President and Chief Executive Officer of CAE Inc. from October 1999 until August 2004. Prior to joining CAE, Mr. Burney was Chairman and Chief Executive Office of Bell Canada International Inc. (1993 – 1999) From 1989-1993, Mr. Burney served as Canada’s Ambassador to the United States. This assignment culminated a distinguished thirty-year career in the Canadian Foreign Service, during which he completed a variety of assignments at home and abroad. From March 1987 to January 1989, Mr. Burney served as Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister. He was directly involved in the negotiation of the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement. He was the Prime Minister’s personal representative (Sherpa) in the preparation for the Houston (1990), London (1991) and Munich (1992) G-7 Economic Summits. In February 1992, Mr. Burney was awarded the Public Service of Canada’s Outstanding Achievement Award. In July 1993, he was named an Officer of the Order of Canada. Mr. Burney was conferred Honorary Doctor of Laws degrees from Lakehead University, Queen’s University, Wilfrid Laurier University and Carleton University. His memoir of government service – “Getting it Done” – was published by McGill-Queen’s in 2005. He is a Director of TransCanada Pipelines Limited and a Senior Research Fellow at the Canadian Defence & Foreign Affairs Institute. Oliver Bussler Capital Power Corporation, Senior Manager Oliver Bussler is the Senior Manager responsible for Capital Power Corporation’s environmental and emissions portfolio group. As the Senior Manager, Oliver provides strategic direction to Capital Power’s environmental market activities. Oliver has developed a broad skill set spending the past eight years involved with Canadian offsets policy, project development and offset acquisitions. Specifically, Oliver is experienced transacting various offset project types and has been integral in positioning Capital Power as a leader in emission offset procurement and development. On the commercial side, Oliver has negotiated numerous letters of intent and emission reduction purchase agreements. David Butters President, APPrO David Butters is President of APPrO. He comes to APPrO from Hill & Knowlton in Toronto, where he was Vice President, Public Affairs, and Director of their Canadian Energy Asset Group. He has been active in the sector as Secretariat to the Stakeholders Alliance for Competition and Customer Choice. His professional background also includes work for Bruce Power, TransAlta, AECL, Fortis, Toronto Hydro, the Association of Major Power Consumers in Ontario, and as Chief of Staff to a federal cabinet minister. Brian Byers Sithe Global Canadian Power Services Ltd., Vice President Brian Byers is Vice President, Energy Management for Sithe Global Canadian Power Services, Ltd., an affiliate of Sithe Global Power, LLC. He is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of, and overseeing operations of, natural gas and electrical strategies, plans, policies and procedure at both a corporate and project level. One of his current focuses is on Goreway Station; an 875 MW natural gas fuelled combined cycle generating facility in Brampton, Ontario. Goreway Station achieved commercial operations in early June 2009. He was named to his present position in May 2008. Previously, he served as Director, Trading for Constellation Energy Commodities Group Inc., from 2004 to 2008. Brian joined Union Gas Ltd. in 1989. He held roles in the Finance, Gas Control and S&T Sales groups before joining Dynegy Canada Inc. in 1996. He served in positions of increasing responsibility within Dynegy’s trading organization until 2004 when he joined Constellation. Carol Cameron Account Manager, Business Development, Union Gas Carol Cameron is responsible for the development and marketing of new services, as well as expansions of Union Gas’s transportation and storage infrastructure. Since joining Union Gas in 1996, Carol has held various positions throughout the company including Gas Management Services, Finance, and Upstream Transportation Acquisitions. Recently, Ms. Cameron has focused on Ontario’s growing natural gas fired power industry. Bruce Campbell IESO - Vice-President - Resource Integration Mr. Campbell holds the position of Vice-President - Resource Integration. The primary focus of this unit is planning for tomorrow’s power system including the assessment of transmission and generation adequacy. The Resource Integration business unit is also responsible for the analysis and development of the IESO-Administered Markets. Mr. Campbell has extensive background within the electricity industry, having acted as legal counsel in planning, facility approval and rate proceedings throughout his 26-year career in private practice. He joined the IESO in June 2000 as Vice-President, Corporate & Legal Affairs and in May 2005 was appointed Vice-President of Corporate Relations & Market Development. Mr. Campbell has contributed as a member of several Boards, and is a Vice-Chair of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. and a member of the Board’s Audit Committee. Jason Chee-Aloy Director, Generation Procurement, OPA - Ontario Power Authority Jason Chee-Aloy joined the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) in August 2005. He is responsible for procuring electricity generation supply to meet the policy objectives of the Green Energy Act, 2009 and enhance Ontario’s power system through direct negotiations, standard offer procurements and competitive procurement processes. To date, the OPA has procured over 7,000 MW of generation, representing an approximate value of nearly $10 billion. For the last several months, Mr. Chee-Aloy’s main focus was leading the development, consultation and successful implementation of North America’s first comprehensive Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Program in Ontario which includes delivery of FIT/microFIT program rules, contracts and price schedule. OPA started accepting applications to the FIT Program on October 1, 2009. Prior to joining the OPA, Mr. Chee-Aloy worked for Ontario’s Independent Electricity system Operator (IESO) from November 1999 to July 2005 where he was closely involved with restructuring Ontario’s electricity sector. Mr. Chee-Aloy was the Chair of the Long-Term Resource Adequacy Working Group consisting of key stakeholders from the electricity sector. He delivered design documents and draft market rules for a Forward Capacity Market. Prior to the May 2002 market start, Mr. Chee-Aloy was responsible for development of the organisation, structure, business practices and operations of the Market Assessment and Compliance Division. Prior to the IESO, Mr. Chee-Aloy worked as an Energy Economist, in both the public and private sectors, analysing competitive electricity and natural gas markets. Mr. Chee-Aloy holds an M.A. in Economics and graduated from the University of Toronto. During his time away from the electricity sector, Mr. Chee-Aloy is a part-time baseball scout for the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau and a former Kansas City Royals scout. He has coached competitive baseball for 15 years and has won six National Championships. In 2006, Mr. Chee-Aloy was presented with the Lionel Ruhr award as Baseball Canada’s Coach of the Year. Edith Chin Enbridge Gas Distribution Edith joined Enbridge Gas Distribution in 2000, and is currently Manager, Distributed Energy, responsible for gas service to all gas-fired generators in Enbridge’s franchise. Since 2008, Edith has been a member of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Technical Panel. Prior to joining Enbridge, Edith spent most of her career in the manufacturing industry, in engineering, marketing, and energy management. Al Cormier Electric Mobility Canada - Mobilité Electrique Canada, Executive Director Al Cormier is the founding Executive Director of Electric Mobility Canada – Mobilité Electrique Canada a new Canadian organization dedicated to the promotion of electric mobility in Canada. In the mid 90’s, Al has also founded The Centre for Sustainable Transportation, a nationally chartered not for profit organization dedicated to the achievement of sustainable transportation in Canada. Individuals and organizations worldwide respect the Centre’s publications and research products. The Centre is now established as an institute within the University of Winnipeg. During his long career in transportation, Mr. Cormier has been the President and CEO of the Canadian Urban Transit Association for 18 years. Patrick Côté Renewable Energy Consultant Côté is a freelancer consultant focusing its practice on renewable energy and rural development. Catherine Cottingham ED & CEO, Electricity Sector Council Catherine Cottingham has held the position of Executive Director and CEO of the Electricity Sector Council since its inception in 2004. In that time, she has brought the staff complement from 2 to 10 which has necessitated an office move three times in three years. Catherine is intimately familiar with the human resources profile of Canada’s electricity sector. Formerly one of six managers responsible for vetting the global workforce strategies of a billion-dollar multinational telecom corporation, Catherine joined the Canadian Electricity Association in 2003. Laura Croucher KPMG, Associate Partner, People & Change practice in Operations Improvement Laura is an Associate Partner with our People & Change practice in Operations Improvement within KPMG’s Advisory Services. Laura has advised companies from a variety of industries representing both public and private sectors. Roger Gale President and CEO, GF Energy LLC Roger Gale has managed and participated in numerous senior executive planning and strategic business design processes in North America, Europe and Asia . He is widely quoted in leading business publications and appears on TV. He is a frequent public speaker at industry and in-house events. Much of his work focuses on the future of nuclear power involved work for major vendors and electric power companies globally. Roger began consulting in 1998 after working in senior positions for the US Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He was an assistant to the secretary of energy and the EPA administrator and served as Director of External Affairs at the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Prior to working for the US Government he lived in Japan where he covered energy issues for a number of publications. Hon. John Gerretsen Minister of the Environment John Gerretsen was first elected in 1995 and was re-elected in 1999, 2003 and 2007. Gerretsen previously served as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and Minister Responsible for Seniors. In Opposition, he was Chief Whip and critic for municipal affairs, tourism and long-term care. He has also served as chair of the Public Accounts Committee. Gerretsen has been a leader in the Kingston community, first as a city councillor, then as the longest-serving mayor in Kingston’s history. Richard Horrobin Richard is one of the founding members of the Bruce Power Marketing team and brings over 14 years of electricity industry experience to this role. He has worked in deregulated markets in England, Canada and the United States. Prior to joining Bruce Power, Richard worked in various capacities with British Energy, the UK’s largest electricity generator. Initially, Richard worked in Corporate Planning before moving to Power and Energy Trading in 1998 where he focused on providing support for British Energy’s North American acquisitions. Donna Jansen Georgian College Owen Sound Campus, Associate Dean Donna Jansen started her career as a professor at Georgian College in 1988 at the Barrie Campus. Since then she taught numerous courses in the social science field as well as worked in student services, coordinated the Police Foundations Program and in the Fall of 2008 she started her position as the Associate Dean of the Owen Sound Campus. She successfully advocated for the addition of Power Engineering Technician and Power Engineering Technology as two additional courses to offer at the Owen Sound Campus of Georgian College. These courses will begin in the Fall of 2010. Prior to coming to Georgian, Donna worked as a counselor in various facilitates, primarily working with young offenders. She has also had her own consulting business specializing in accreditation and strategic planning. A second private business is a partnership with her husband in a small mixed farming operation near Meaford, Ontario. Donna is very involved in the Grey Bruce Community. Currently she is a Board Member for the local Training Board. She also has volunteered for a variety of events such as Cops for Cancer, Special Olympics, Crime Stoppers, and Festival of Northern Lights etc. Donna has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo. Her post graduate work was done through the University of Leicester, majoring in forensic psychology. Her educational background plus experience in Corrections prepared her for a career of 20 years teaching Criminology at Georgian; the first ten were in Barrie and the second ten were in Owen Sound. David J. McFadden Gowlings Mr. McFadden is Chair of Gowlings’ National Energy and Infrastructure Industry Group. He acts for a broad range of clients involved in infrastructure development and in power generation, distribution, sales and financing. He was appointed by the Government of Canada to serve as a member of the Electric System Working Group, which was part of the Joint Canada-U.S. Task Force established to investigate the power blackout that hit Ontario and much of the Northeastern United States in August 2003. The final report of the Task Force, issued in April 2004, set out a blueprint to enhance the reliability of the North American electricity grid. The U.S. Energy Policy Act, which was signed into law by President Bush in August, enacts many of the key electricity reliability recommendations made by the Task Force. In June 2003, Mr. McFadden was appointed to the Ontario Government’s Electricity Conservation and Supply Task Force. The Task Force, which issued its final report in January 2004, provided a comprehensive strategy to meet the future energy demands of the province. Since October 1996, he has been Chair of the Stakeholders Alliance for Electricity Competition and Customer Choice, a broad coalition of business and energy-related organizations including the Association of Major Power Consumers, Association of Exporters and Manufacturers, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, the Electricity Distributors Association of Ontario, the Ontario Energy Association and the Association of Power Producers of Ontario. Over the years, Mr. McFadden has been active in Canada-U.S. affairs. He served as the founding President of the Canada-U.S. Business Association from 1989 to 1993. In December 1988, Mr. McFadden was appointed one of Canada's members of the binational dispute settlement process created under the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement to review and settle disputes arising from the application of Canadian and American trade law. Dan McGillivray Ontario Centres of Excellence for Energy Dr. Dan McGillivray brings over 30 years of experience to OCE’s Centre for Energy having worked as an environmental consultant, university professor, physical oceanographer and President and CEO of Environmental Software Consultants Inc. Dan received his Ph.D. in 1988 from the University of Toronto, specializing in Earth and Environmental Sciences. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Ontario Environment Industry Association in November 2001 and served until July 2008. Dan joined the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE) in October 1997, initially as Director, Business Development and Technology Transfer and was appointed Managing Director of the Centre for Earth and Environmental Technologies in July 2005. Mr. McLeese is President and Chief Executive Officer of American Consumer Industries Inc., which owns four and operates three power projects in the U.S. (a 47 MW biomass and three waste coal fired Qualifying Facilities (33 MW in Pennsylvania, 50% of 53 MW in Utah and 25% of 38 MW in Montana)). He played a major role in the development and financing of one of the projects and the acquisition and re-financing of the balance. Mr. McLeese is a Past President of IPPSO and is currently a Director & Treasurer of APPrO (the successor IPP industry association) and past Chairman of the Toronto Board of Trade Electricity Task Force. Mr. McLeese is a Director of Pristine Power Inc., owner of the York Energy Center (393 MW). Paul Murphy IESO, President & CEO Paul Murphy was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Electricity System Operator in October 2006. Under Mr. Murphy, Ontario's IESO is responsible for overseeing the safe and reliable operation of Ontario's bulk electrical system - one of the most diversified, reliable and efficient in the world. The organization also oversees the IESO-administered wholesale electricity markets.
Prior to his appointment as President, Mr. Murphy was the Chief Operating Officer for the Independent Electricity System Operator since 2000. In that role, he was responsible for managing the operation of Ontario’s competitive wholesale electricity market and for directing the operation of the IESO Controlled Grid; forecasting and assessing resource and transmission adequacy; developing and administering contracts and operating agreements and for settling market transactions.
Mr. Murphy is past chair of IESO’s Technical Panel; the panel of market participant representatives that recommend market rule changes to the IESO Board. He has worked in the integrated operation of Ontario’s electrical system for over 25 years and in the development and operation of competitive markets for the last ten. Mr. Murphy has been the Vice Chair of NPCC’s Reliability Coordinating Committee and represents Independent System Operators on NERC’s Member Representatives Committee.

Dwayne Nashkawa Nipissing First Nation, Executive Director Dwayne is the Executive Director of Nipissing First Nation, located on the shores of Lake Nipissing. Dwayne has spent his career working in First Nations in advocacy and administrative roles in the areas of natural resources development, treaty research, governance and land claim negotiations. Dwayne has led and participated in various tripartite negotiations including the Anishinabek Trapping Agreement, the Ontario First Nations Policing Agreement and the development of the Anishinabek/Ontario Resource Management Council. Dwayne has also been an active participant in the development of the First Nations Energy Alliance. Over the past few years, Dwayne has been the lead for Nipissing First Nation in the development of renewable energy initiatives as an economic and community development opportunity. Jatin Nathwani University of Waterloo, Ontario Research Chair in Public Policy and Sustainable Energy Management Professor Jatin Nathwani is the Ontario Research Chair in Public Policy and Sustainable Energy Management at University of Waterloo, in the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Environment. He is the Executive Director, Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE). His primary role at Waterloo is to lead a major multi-disciplinary effort to develop cleaner energy technologies and promote policies to improve the environmental and economic performance of the energy system over the long term. Dr. Nathwani’s experience in the energy sector includes corporate strategy, business planning, policy developments influencing the electricity sector and the planning, design and operation of critical infrastructure. His knowledge of industry practices encompasses regulatory affairs, environmental health and safety issues and drivers of innovation in business practice. Recently, as a member of the Ontario Smart Grid Forum, he has contributed to the shaping of the vision for the future of Ontario’s grid. He was deeply involved in the development of Ontario Power Authority's 'Integrated Power System Plan' with a focus on environment and sustainability. He spearheaded the first major conservation and demand management initiative that involved the largest North American pilot test of consumer propensity to conserve energy that enables reduction in energy use through "real time-feedback" of energy consumption. Over the past two decades, Dr. Nathwani led the formulation and development of 'The Life Quality Index' – an innovation gaining increasing acceptance in risk analysis for use as an effective policy tool for managing life safety risk under the constraint of scarce resources. Dr. Nathwani has over 80 publications related to energy and risk management, including four books. Michael Penstone Vice President – Major Project Coordination & External Relations,Hydro One Networks Inc. Jason Rioux Portlands Energy Centre, Commercial Manager Jason Rioux is Commercial Manager of the Portlands Energy Centre (PEC), a 550MW natural gas fired generation station located in downtown Toronto. He developed and leads the commercial organization of this $730 million facility, with responsibility for all gas and power trading activities at PEC. A unique aspect of this commercial operation is the complex gas management challenge of implementing all new transport/storage/balancing services and executing short notice nominations over multiple gas utilities. Prior to his current role, Jason held many positions at Ontario Power Generation, in the areas of business development, strategic planning, and within hydroelectric, nuclear, and coal fired plant operations. Brian Rivard Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator, Manager of Economics Brian Rivard was appointed to the position of Manager of Economics within Market Evolution, Analysis and Research at Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) in December 2005. Brian is responsible for providing analysis of the impacts of changes to the IESO Market Rules or Market Design, government policies and other industry initiatives. Previously, Brian was the Senior Economic Advisor to the Ontario Market Surveillance Panel. Prior to joining the IESO, Brian spent six years as a Senior Economist with the Canadian Competition Bureau and was a consultant for LECG. Wayne Robbins Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Chief Nuclear Officer Wayne Robbins is the Chief Nuclear Officer at Ontario Power Generation (OPG). OPG is an Ontario-based electricity generation company whose principal business is the generation and sale of electricity in Ontario. Wayne Robbins was appointed to this position June 1, 2009. He reports to Tom Mitchell, President & CEO. Prior to this position Wayne was the Senior Vice President, Darlington Nuclear Generating Station. He was appointed to this position in December 2006. He reported directly to the Chief Nuclear Officer and was responsible for the strategic direction, planning and execution required to achieve nuclear production targets at Darlington, while focusing on safety and reliability. September 2005 he was appointed to the position of Deputy Vice President, Darlington Nuclear. He reported directly to the Senior Vice President of Darlington and was responsible for support organizations (Strategic Planning, Finance, Performance Improvement, Security, Emergency Response, Regulatory Affairs) and assisting the Senior Vice President in station oversight. Before arriving back to Darlington in September 2005 Wayne was the Director of Operations and Maintenance, Pickering B Nuclear Generating Station. Wayne's experience in operations, maintenance and success in outages was invaluable in meeting the challenges of the extensive outage program for Pickering B. Before his appointment to Pickering B, Wayne held the same position at Pickering A Nuclear Generating Station where he was responsible for overall station operation, strategic planning and process improvements to achieve station targets and long-term station reliability. Wayne joined Ontario Power Generation, formerly known as Ontario Hydro, in 1980. He was initially employed as a Commissioning Engineer at Pickering B, and also worked on Pickering A’s Retube Project before moving to Darlington Nuclear in 1985. At Darlington, Wayne held several positions including Commissioning Engineer, Shift Operating Supervisor, Fuel Handling Supervisor and then Shift Manager. Wayne was then promoted and held various Management positions such as Maintenance Manager, Outage Manager and Authorized Duty Manager. Prior to 1980, Wayne worked with McLaren Consulting Firm, where he was involved in field engineering activities. Wayne was born in Bancroft, Ontario and obtained his Bachelor Degree in Science from Queen’s University. He and his wife, Jane, have three children. Their two sons currently live and work in the Durham Region and their daughter works in the Bancroft area. |

Jeff Rosenthal Brookfield Asset Management Jeff Rosenthal has over 25 years of senior management and executive experience in the Electrical Utility sector. Jeff is currently responsible for the development of the transmission business for Brookfield Asset Management, for oversight of the existing operating platform in Ontario and to participate with utility mergers and acquisitions. His experience includes leading the largest capital program undertaken by Toronto Hydro in the city’s voltage conversion, working with ABB Sweden to deliver a state if the art SCADA system and working with the University Of Ontario Institute Of Technology to install a cogeneration unit that provides hot water and electricity to the campus. Jay Shepherd School Energy Coalition, Sr. Partner Jay Shepherd is a senior partner in a Toronto law firm, and has for thirty years been active in the Ontario energy sector. After getting his Bachelors and Masters degrees in law, with many scholarships and awards, and then being called to the bar in 1980, Jay was first a tax lawyer in the eighties, then a corporate lawyer in the nineties and beyond, with a special interest in renewable energy projects. In 1985, along with Nick Teekman and Jake Brooks, he set up what is now APPrO, and sat as a board member for many years. He served a term in 1989-90 as President. He has also been President of the Social investment Organization, Canada’s national association of ethical investors, and a director of the Canadian Wind Energy Association. For the last 25 years, Jay has increasingly focused on energy policy and regulation, first for APPrO in the 80’s and early 90’s; then, since the late 90’s, for the HVAC industry in their successful fight against competitive expansion by the gas utilities. Stephen Somerville Stephen is a Director, Development with Competitive Power Ventures (“CPV”), Inc. CPV is a U.S. based greenfield development, asset management and transaction execution company focused on the North American power generation market. . Stephen and a colleague have responsibility for the development of both thermal and wind project opportunities in Ontario. Prior to joining CPV, Stephen was a member of the Probyn & Company and Clean Power Income Fund team responsible for business development, acquisitions, "Requests For Proposals", and monetizing the "green" attributes of renewable energy facilities owned and/or operated by The Probyn Group. Stephen was also part of the successful bid team for the 99 MW Erie Shores wind project in Ontario. Keith Stewart WWF-Canada, Director of climate change program Keith Stewart is the Director of WWF-Canada’s climate change program, where he works on promoting a low-carbon energy future. He has been active on climate change policy and advocacy in Canada for over a decade and is a frequent media commentator on issues related to energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate policy. In 2007, he was named Best Environmental Activist by NOW Magazine and a Green Giant by Toronto Life magazine. Michael A. Switt Managing Director, Manulife Financial Corporation Michael Switt is a project finance professional with over 10 years experience originating, structuring and investing in debt and equity transactions in the power sector in both Canada and the United States. He recently joined Manulife Financial (six months ago) as Managing Director in their Project Finance group responsible for originating debt and equity investments that meet Manulife’s investment criteria. The role includes managing all aspects of the due diligence process. Paul Tremblay Hydro One Networks Inc., Director – Network Operating, Ontario Grid Control Centre In his role as Director of Network Operating, Paul is responsible for the operations of Hydro One’s transmission and distribution systems at the Ontario Grid Control Centre (OGCC) located in Barrie. Accountabilities include real time 7 x 24 operations and dispatch, planned maintenance scheduling and coordination, operating agreements, operational analysis and tools development. Paul has 28 years of experience with Hydro One and Ontario Hydro. During his career Paul has been involved in all aspects of system operations, as well as, customer interface, system planning and emergency preparedness to name a few others. Paul has had a lead hand in the OGCC from the beginning and has played a key role in the successful amalgamation and transition of the regional transmission centres and distribution centre into the OGCC. Howard Wetston Chair, Ontario Energy Board Howard I. Wetston, Q.C. was appointed Chair of the Ontario Energy Board in 2003. From 1999 to 2003, he served as Vice-Chair of the Ontario Securities Commission. Previously, Mr. Wetston was a Judge of the Federal Court of Canada, Trial Division, Appeal Division, and Director of Investigation and Research, Bureau of Competition Policy. Prior to joining AMPCO, Mr. White was Vice President of Public Affairs and External Relations with the Ontario Energy Association, Account Manager with Mirant Canada Energy Marketing, Manager of Regulatory Affairs with TransAlta Energy Corporation, Senior Policy Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Science and Technology, and Senior Economist at the Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy. Mr. White has more than 17 years’ experience in policy economics and analysis, public relations, communications and advocacy, achieving superior energy, environmental and public health policy outcomes for clients and employers in the not-for-profit, public and private sectors. Kevin Whitehead Whitby Hydro, Director of Engineering Kevin is the Director of Engineering at Whitby Hydro, a local distribution utility located approximately 40 km east of Toronto. He has over 25 years of experience in Power System Engineering, including management, proposal writing, feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, detailed engineering, capital budgets, construction management and project management. He has a thorough knowledge of overhead and underground distribution systems, substations, protective devices and generation. Kevin has been involved with all forms of generation including solar, wind, biomass and combined heat and power. Leveraging his engineering experience, Kevin is also involved in strategic planning and economic modeling of energy projects. |

John Wolnik President, GSA Energy Company Inc. John has worked in the natural gas industry for 35 years; he has worked for Union Gas and Westcoast Energy in various departments including Engineering, Operations, Gas Purchasing, Storage Development as well as Business and Project Development. As President of GSA Energy and an Associate of Elenchus Research Associates, for the last 5 years, John has acted as a consultant to many North American companies in the areas of regulatory support, natural gas service assessments, contract negotiations, underground storage development, market analysis, asset valuation and project management. He has provided support for APPrO in a number of OEB and NEB related activities. He has also worked for a number of gas generators in assessing the transportation and balancing service requirements for new gas-fired generation.
