Power up your career: APPrO announces two new bursary programs for Ontario post-secondary students

Ontario post-secondary students interested in a career in the energy sector are being offered an extraordinary chance to learn about the exciting opportunities in the energy field, and to meet a range of people active in the electricity industry. APPrO, the Association of Power Producers of Ontario, announces two new bursaries being offered to selected students from Ontario colleges and universities. The bursaries will provide access to APPrO 2014, “the premier electricity conference in Canada,' and a series of specialized events associated with APPrO 2014.

This is a exceptional opportunity for students and anyone else to learn what’s new and promising for the future in the power industry. APPrO’s conference, now in its 26th year, is known for bringing together the top decision makers and business people in the Ontario power sector to explore key issues of the day. Students attending the conference will not only learn what’s going on the industry, but they will also have excellent opportunities to meet people who are interested in hiring students for some of the most interesting and challenging jobs anywhere.

This is the first year that APPrO has offered this kind of full access conference bursary to the Annual Canadian Power Conference and Networking Centre. Through this program, Ontario students who are considering a career in power generation will benefit from direct exposure to the key issues that will likely be facing them in their future career.

The Ontario power industry is hungry for new recruits and APPrO wants to be sure every interested student has the opportunity to explore the full range of career options in the sector.  APPrO believes that this bursary will allow students who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to attend a conference of this nature, to come and be a part of the action and learn about what the electricity business has to offer them.

Women in Power Bursary:

APPrO, in partnership with WiRE (Women in Renewable Energy), is pleased to announce the inaugural year of the Women in Power bursary. Two women, who are registered as students in an Ontario college or university, and are interested in a potential career in power generation, will be awarded bursaries for full access registration at the APPrO 2014 Annual Canadian Power Conference and Networking Centre on November 18 - 19, 2014 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

APPrO wishes to support and encourage women to attend the APPrO 2014 conference, learn and participate in the sessions, meet with the leading edge service and equipment suppliers at the Power Networking Centre and network with other men and women in the power generation industry. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with potential employers who may be offering internships or future permanent positions and expand your network of industry contacts.
