Logging on for the first time
If you are logging on for the first time you will need to start by opening a recent email from APPrO. Each registrant was sent a message with “Login credentials for PowerConnect - the APPrO 2016 web app” in the subject line, which contains your login credentials.
If you don’t have easy access to that message, go to the app at this address (https://appro.org/app ) , and select “Forgot Login” (at the bottom left), then “Send me a fresh login link” and enter your email address. A new welcome message should be sent to you within a minute or so. It is important to enter the same email address which was used when you registered for the APPrO conference. (Please note that the system will send 2 emails to you. We recommend focusing only on the one headed "Login credentials …" and ignoring the one saying "APPrO - New password for ..." unless you need to use passwords for some reason.)
The first time you log in, the system will ask your permission to use your contact information for the app. If you select yes, you will have access to the full range of services available in the app.
Avoid problems – use the Auto login link
The most common problems are caused by trying to enter usernames and passwords unnecessarily. Getting the username and password right is relatively exacting. However clicking on an auto login link is relatively foolproof. Please be sure to use only the most recent auto login link, which you should be able to find in the most recent message from our automated system to you titled “Login credentials for PowerConnect - the APPrO 2016 web app”.
What information can people see about me?
At the outset, other delegates using the app can see only your name and your affiliation. Your detailed contact information will not be visible to other delegates, unless you choose to make it visible to them. When you are in the app, to see what information is visible to others, and to change what others see, click on “My Profile” then “Edit” and “Update your profile.”
After opening “Update your profile” you will see a column of tick-boxes next to your data fields. By default the only data that other people will see is your name and affiliation. Put a tick-mark in any fields that you would like to make available to other conference registrants (For example, you could make your street address available, but not your email address.)
People can send you messages within the app, without knowing your actual email address.
If you would like the recipient to know your name when you send a message within the app, go to the compose window, and un-tick the box labelled “Send this message without displaying my contact info” (near the bottom). By default that box is ticked, meaning your name will not be visible to the recipient.
Getting a new password or “Refreshing your credentials”
There are two ways to get into the app: With a username and password combination, or by using a secure personalized auto login link. The second approach is easier because you can log on with just one click.
Either way, if you want new or refreshed credentials, go to the app at this address (https://appro.org/app ) , and select “Forgot Login” then “Send me a fresh login link” and enter your email address. A new welcome message should be sent to you within a minute or so. Please note that you must enter the same email address which was used when you registered for the APPrO conference. In addition, please note that the second time the email address is entered on this screen, it must be typed one letter at a time – you cannot copy and paste the address the second time. This is for security reasons. If you don’t see the message, check your spam folders.
Please be aware that whenever you request a “Fresh login” as outlined above, your password will be changed automatically, and a second email will arrive with the new password in it. As before, you can login with the link or with your email address and password, as long as you use the new credentials.
You can change the email address that the system displays for others to reach you – however you cannot change your login name (which is the email address used when you originally registered). Although your login name is your email address, it is not visible to others using the app unless you make it visible.
If you want to change your password to something you know and recognize
Passwords are normally set automatically by the system. If you want to change your password to something you know and recognize, log into the app, click on “My Profile” then “Edit” and “Update your profile.” Then look for the field labelled password. It should be blank. Type your new password in the first and second blank fields and hit update. Be careful: Any previous passwords and secure links will no longer work.
If you are having trouble logging out of the app on a mobile device
On some mobile devices the “Log out” button may be hard to find. If you need to logout from the app on a mobile device, hit the “Home” button or “My Profile” button. “Logout” should then be visible at the bottom left.
Prevention of unwanted messaging
For each user there is an initial limit of 3 messages that can be sent to another user. Once that user has sent you a message themselves, this limit disappears.
* In the attendee listing, you can search for people by name or company.
* If you see an attendee with a green button in their profile, that means they are currently logged into the app.
* If you want to change what is visible to other people, click on “My Profile” then “Edit / Update Your Profile” and choose what fields you want to make available to other delegates. (By default the only thing other people can see is your name and affiliation.)
* You can change your email address but you cannot change your login name, which was set based on the email address used when you originally registered.
